“I really enjoyed my time helping the kids of Battambang. It shows me that sport can help anyone temporarily escape from their troubles and enjoy the game of tennis no matter the level!!”
– Roy Hobson (tennis coach)
On January 6th, 2020, P6F provided a 5 day tennis coaching clinic for the children of Apostolic Prefecture of Battambang, P6F’s offical Mission partner.
American tennis coach, Roy Hobson, supported by P6F, coached over 30 children from the Mission across two of its locations, Battambang and La Paloma. All these children have unique stories connected to them. They are either victims of landmines and left disabled, abandoned, or otherwise temporarily homeless while their parents search for work across the Cambodian boarder (in some instances some children have lost one or both parents).
Our goal is to help support the wellbeing and development of these children as part of the Mission’s ‘sports-4-life skills’ program, and this week was about including all the children at various stages during the week. This was the first time ever the Mission has conducted a-week long tennis coaching clinic.
The children we super excited and we were privileged to help provide the excitement, the learning, and the fun for the week. We aim to provide ongoing clinics throughout the course of the year across multiple sports.
We would like to also thank our private sponsor in Cambodia who donated tennis racquets and balls, as well as coordinated the logistics of the camp. Thank you!
See below for some of the highlights of the coaching clinic.
